List of Sports at the 1988 Winter Paralympic Games
The 1988 Paralympic Winter Games was held in Innsbruck, Austria. There were four sports on the program, and 97 events overall. Compared to the previous Winter Paralympics in 1984, the sport of para biathlon has been added. Here is a list of the sports.
1988 Paralympic Sports List
- Para alpine skiing - Para alpine skiers with physical, vision or intellectual impairments compete in downhill, slalom, giant slalom, super-G and combined events, racing individually against the clock.
- Para biathlon - Athletes with physical or vision impairments compete in cross-country skiing races that include rifle shooting, with penalties added for missed targets.
- Para cross-country skiing - Athletes with physical or vision impairments race over long distances using standing, sitting or visually guided classifications.
- Ice sled racing - Athletes with lower-body impairments race on ice using lightweight sledges with blades, propelling themselves with spiked poles in short-distance speed events.
