Cricket Dismissals: All the Ways a Batter Can Get Out

  1. Bowled: The ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails.
  2. Caught: A fielder catches the ball on the full after the batter hits it.
  3. Run Out: A fielder breaks the stumps while the batter is out of the crease attempting a run.
  4. Stumped: The wicketkeeper removes the bails with the batter out of their ground after a missed delivery.
  5. Leg Before Wicket (LBW): The batter is out if the ball hits their pads in line with the stumps and would have gone on to hit them.
  6. Hit Wicket: The batter accidentally breaks the stumps with their bat or body during the act of playing a shot or setting off for a run.
  7. Obstructing the Field: The batter deliberately hinders a fielder from attempting a run-out or making a play.
  8. Hit the Ball Twice: The batter hits the ball a second time (other than for self-protection) before it has been touched by a fielder.
  9. Timed Out: The next batter doesn’t arrive at the crease within the allotted time after the previous dismissal.
  10. Retired Out: If any batter retired for any reason other than injury or incapacity, they may resume the innings only with the consent of the opposing captain. If they fail to resume their innings, they are considered out.
